The extra time at Atlético Madrileño's pitch in Alcalá de Henares cost two points. Atlético Madrileño had taken the lead against Villarreal B and held it until stoppage time. Fernando Torres's lads took the lead through Arnau, who scored again, finishing off a lightning-fast counter-attack with a powerful shot in the box. The goal came in the 15th minute, and the home team managed well to maintain the lead throughout the second half. Villarreal B equalised in the 91st minute through El Jmili. The draw keeps Atlético Madrileño unbeaten in 2026, in second place in the table, three points behind the top spot.

Once the final whistle blew, the home team's manager, Fernando Torres, analysed the draw for the club's official media: “It's a point that feels like a missed opportunity. We have to thank the fans again for their support here in Alcalá today. We take this point to keep adding to our tally, to stay near the top of the table, and also to know that we have to demand more of ourselves, all of us individually, the manager first and foremost, and from there draw conclusions. I'm sure there are many good things we can learn from and many others that we need to correct to continue on this path.”

Next week, another away challenge awaits in a trip to Ibiza, where another tough contest for all three much-needed points is expected: “There are teams that are improving, like Villarreal, in this case, and like Ibiza next week. They've been picking up points, playing better, and feeling very good. We have to give credit to our position, which we've maintained almost all season, and that balance, that consistency, is what's allowing the players to push themselves, so we're going there with our minds set on getting three points in Ibiza,” the manager concluded.
