Storm of goals at Alcalá pitch. Atlético Madrileño -managed by Fernando Torres- won 4-3 the clash between two league top teams against Sabadell. The home side broke the deadlock with a goal from Arnau, half an hour from kick-off. After the break, Sabadell equalised through Joel Priego (51'), but the tie unleashed a furious Atlético attack, with goals from Rafa Llorente (55'), Iker Luque (60'), and Arnau again (66'). The score remained 4-1 going into stoppage time, where Sabadell pressed hard, pulling two goals back through Coscia (90' and 100'), the last one from the penalty spot. Despite the late surge, the points stayed in Alcalá, keeping their promotion hopes alive with two matches remaining. Next match, against the leader in Elda next Saturday.

Fernando Torres expressed his satisfaction with the result after the match, a deserved reward for the work of the season: “I’m very happy with the game, the result, and the way we got the three points. I especially want to thank the fans for their support today, how they were supporting the team, how they sang, how they cheered us on, how they were with us every step of the way… It’s a huge satisfaction to be able to reward them with a great game, with lots of goals and excitement. Those back-and-forth battles that our fans love. It’s a perfect day.”

With today's result, Madrileño has secured a place in at least the LaLiga Hypermotion promotion play-offs: “Absolutely. It was a goal that came with the players' hard work. We had to focus on growing as a team, on building a squad where individual talents could shine. I think we've achieved that, which is why so many of our players have made their first-team debuts this year—nine in total. It's the dynamic with them, the fact that they come here with enthusiasm, and the result of that work is this mathematical qualification for the play-offs, which I think is no small feat. I think it's very important: we've been in the play-offs, if I'm not mistaken, since matchday 5, and now we have to continue on our path. We have two games left, and we want to win both.”

Next up is a visit to the league leaders, Eldense, who are just one point behind tonight before their match this weekend: “Another game to enjoy. That’s what we tried to tell the lads today: to enjoy themselves, to be themselves, to be an aggressive, brave, dynamic team, not afraid to attack, and to accept the transitions against Eldense, who are a great team. So, first and foremost, we’ll be ourselves, and hopefully that will be enough.”
