The Atlético Madrileño returns to Madrid from their visit to Ibiza empty-handed. Red-and-whites battled hard at Can Misses to overcome Fran Castillo's opener (28') in the Matchday 22 fixture. Fernando Torres' team fought tirelessly until the last breath, when in stoppage time a counter-attack by the home side was converted into a 2-0 hosts victory, with a last-gasp goal sealed by Davo (90+6'). Atlético Madrid reserve team remain second-placed in the standings, four points behind the leader, Sabadell.

Fernando Torres analysed the match for the Club's official media: “We're disappointed with the result. We came here for the three points; we tried, we had chances to get them. We think the 2-0 scoreline does not reflect the game, especially because of their goal at the end, when we were fully pushing forward. We had chances in the second half, we improved enough to equalise and then win the game. We're left with the feeling that we need to improve, but we're on track.”

The next match is a Madrid derby in Alcalá de Henares, on Saturday evening against Alcorcón. Torres is approaching the preparation for this upcoming game "with the usual enthusiasm to analyse the match, review it with the players, and help them understand where we can improve. We'll review all the situations we've worked on this week, both those that went well and those that didn't, with our sights set on the next match where we have no option but to win," Torres concludes.
