Atlético Madrileño completed their debut season in the Primera RFEF league competition with a stalemate draw against Sanluqueño at the Wanda Sports City in Alcalá de Henares, the new home for the Rojiblanco reserve team's fixtures this season. With the support of their fans, Fernando Torres's team displayed a hard effort in securing their first win of the season, as they will seek their next victory away to Cartagena next Friday (9:30 PM CET).

After the game, coach Fernando Torres shared his views with the club's official media: “It's a point that we don't feel enough for. We were counting on these three points because the team was doing very well, with a lot of joy and enthusiasm. The players adapted very quickly. One of the best things we took away from this is the group we've built; we're really happy with that.”

“We did enough to win. We enjoyed some controlling moments in the game, but we lacked the decisive pass, the most difficult thing in football. We improved in the second half, being more direct, more aggressive. We felt more like we could win,” the coach added.

“It's also true that we struggled with some transitions, as is obvious when the team is involved in full attacking tasks. We had that disallowed goal; we can't just stick on that, but it's true that the team created chances and scored a goal that didn't count. We're left with a point, with a clean sheet, and we know that if you want to make the most of a point at home, you have to go into the next game with the mentality of winning.”

The next game - Matchday 2 against Cartagena, is for Torres "a game to enjoy, to play football against an opponent with a great team. They're going to come out to play, to command, and those are the games the players should enjoy. I'm looking forward to training tomorrow to talk about the game, about everything we did well today, so we can improve for the next one”.
