On the eve of Christmas and days after playing the last 2023 game -home win over Adarve (1-0)- Fernando Torres analyses the good performance of the team as Red-and-whites finish 2023 as leader of U19 League Group 5 and qualified for the knockout phase of the UEFA Youth League, as they will face the current tournament champions in last-32 round play-off.

“We are very happy with the first part of the season in terms of results. Best of all, the team knows its potential and at the same time understands that we have enormous room for improvement. The capacity we have to understand that we have to improve in this second part of the season versus what we have been doing will determine the result in each competition. We have a huge belief in them and we are sure of what we are doing,” says Fernando in words to the Official Red-and-whites Website.

“Regarding lads that he has worked with and who have been promoted to the first team, Torres says that “players like Barrios will carry the club's flag for the coming years. He is a different player and I hope he gains the continuity that will make him grow and develop the enormous potential he has. Debuts like that of Ilias (Kostis) are giving us strength to reinforce the message to children that dreams come true. It's exciting to see them with the first-team players."

Finally, the coach reveals the exciting challenges that 2024 will bring: “The objective for the coaching staff is always the same. That the greatest number of players from our squad will remain in the club next season, either repeating in the youth team because of their age or being part of the reserve team. For this, success in each competition is a great traveling companion. We seek collective success as a scenery for them to stand out individually.”
