Season kick-off for Atlético Madrileño! The campaign began in Alcalá de Henares with a hard-fought match against Juventud de Torremolinos, which ended in a draw. Before the game, a heartfelt minute of silence was observed in the stadium for the recent passing of Miguel Ángel Gómez, Atlético Madrileño's delegate for the past several seasons and a professional associated with the club's academy for over 20 years. The players also wore black armbands as a sign of mourning.

After the match kicked off, Madrileño showed their ambition for the three points, taking the lead twice. They opened the scoring after 14 minutes through a goal by Domenech, a goal that allowed them to lead until just before halftime, when Mati equalized. The second half saw a second goal for the home side, also by Domenech, whose brace sent the home crowd into raptures. A late goal from Grozdanic in the 77th minute secured a point for the visitors.

“Happy to be back home with our fans, I want to thank them for their support. I think the team came out with the right mentality: to go for the win, to press in the opening minutes and control the game. That's how the first goal came about. Then, when they equalized, the pace of the game changed a bit; it was harder for us to keep possession. And the second half was very similar to the first: a great start followed by a set-piece goal that led to the equaliser.”

“We tried until the very end; we had clear chances to make it 3-2, but it wasn't to be. We'll take the point and work for another week with a practically new group that, with hard work, will work really well. The team's potential is always set by the players themselves: sticking together in difficult times and striving for more in good times. And that's our job: to build a family, a united group, where they respect each other, care for each other, and want to move in the same direction. And from there, with the quality they have and hard work, the results will surely come.”
