The Liverpool striker autographed a special portrait of himself to raise cash for the Lupus UK charity. Torres follows in the footstpes of Steve Gerrard whose signed potrait was auctioned off in January. Liverpool FC Academy Scout John Hibbs, whose sister was diagnosed with lupus two years ago said: "Meeting both Steven and Fernando has been an amazing experience. I can't thank Liverpool, Steven and Fernando enough for all the help they have given in making these signed paintings possible. Seeing the smile on my sister's face as she battles against lupus was unbelievable.”

The signing took place at the club’s Melwood training facilites where Fernando is recovering from his knee operation. The canvas will be auctioned off to raise cash for the charity which is trying to raise as much awareness and money as possible for the worthy cause. Lupus has many symptoms as the body's immune system attacks itself, and at the moment there is no cure for the disease.
