Henrik Larsson: “Torres is the new star on the world stage”Henrik Larsson took his hat off to fellow goalscorer Fernando Torres in the Spanish sports newpaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’. “Torres is the new star on the world stage. He is just amazing. I have watched a lot of his games, especially in the Champions League with Liverpool, and he is a great player.”

At 36 years old, the Swedish striker has enjoyed spells at Feyenoord, FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Celtic, Scottish club where he finished top goalscorer in European football during the 2001/02 season. During his long and very successful career, Larsson has won two Dutch Cups (1993/94, 1994/95), four Scottish League titles (1997/98, 2000/01, 2001/02, 2003/04), two Scottish League Cups (1997/98, 2000/01) two Scottish Cups (2000/01, 2003/04), two Spanish League titles (2004/05, 05/06), one Spanish Super Cup (2005/06), one Champions League (2005/06), one Swedish Cup (2005/06) and one Premier League title (2006/07).

Larsson returned from international retirement to take part in the 2008 European Championships, and has played 94 times for his country, scoring 36 goals. Since debuting for Sweden in 1993, Henrik Larsson has played in three World Cups (1994, 2002, 2006) and three European Championships (2000, 2004, 2008).
