Fernando Torres is a doubt for this weekend’s Premier League match versus Boro. The Red striker, who twisted his ankle in the first-half of Liverpool’s win in Madrid, was substituted on 61 minutes.

The forward picked-up his injury in the first minute of the Champions League tie, but the Spaniard however stayed on as he led the Liverpool attack for a full hour.

Anfield boss Rafa Benitez commented: “Talking with the doctors, they said maybe we could keep Torres on. The ankle was bad but it maybe wasn't the worst injury. But he was limping and wasn't comfortable and we decided to bring Ryan Babel on. We don't know how bad it is yet. Probably he will miss some games. We have a game in three days' time and it will be difficult for him to be ready.”
