Konami announced on Monday that leading Spain and Liverpool forward will be the face of its upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. Fernando Torres will team-up with Argentina and Barcelona player Lionel Messi. The Spaniard commented on his ‘signing’ for the Japanese giants. “Everyone knows that when it comes to football simulation, Konami’s PES series is by far the most realistic title available. The new game looks absolutely stunning, and I look forward to seeing myself in action in PES 2010.”

Jon Murphy, PES European Team Leader, described Fernando Torres as: “one of the most exciting strikers in the game. He encapsulates everything that is good about the modern game, showcasing both pace, skill and vision – three elements that play a major part in PES 2010 as a football simulation.”

Konami also revealed some of the new options of its new game which will be released this autumn. PES 2010 will enjoy an enhanced realism with a pace of game in tune with football played at the highest level. There will be a greater level of tactical possibilities when the game is in mid-flow, and the game will also incorporate a season with both the Champions League and Europa Leagues. Each team has unique settings matching their real-life playing styles. Torres at Liverpool, for instance, will recreate the Merseyside club’s sophisticated play and high numbers in attack, their pressing from midfield, strong defensive line, and width across the pitch.

PES 2010 reunites Jon Champion and ex-Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson who both commentate the English-speaking version of the game. The commentary is now more tied to the action, with comments detailing player ability, significant match history and analysis.

Konami’s PES 2010 will be released for PLAYSTATION3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PSP, PlayStation 2 and mobile phones this autumn.
