Fernando Torres continues to be one of Spain’s top sportsmen on the Internet. According to a report carried out by vipnet360, the Liverpool and Spain forward is one of the most searched and popular pros alongside Rafa Nadal and Fernando Alonso. The striker is also joined in the ranking by fellow World Cup winners Andrés Iniesta, David Villa and Iker Casillas.

The study looked at the social networks and although Fernando Torres does not have an official presence, he’s still top in Facebook. The striker on-line presence is focused entirely on his official website fernando9torres.com, which is available to users in Spanish and English.

The forward has 6,197,866 followers on Facebook, with Rafa Nadal in second with 5,032,902 fans and Andres Iniesta with 3,480,242 followers. But unlike the tennis player and Barcelona midfielder, the striker does not have an official site on the world’s most popular social network.
Torres’ and Pepsi’s successful recent campaign for Christmas, which was exclusive to Facebook, has seen an increase in the striker’s followers worldwide on the social network.

Up until December 1, 2010, Fernando9torres.com was receiving an average of 60,000 page hits a day, meaning that with one month left until the end of the year, a total of 20,200,000 pages have been visited by fans.

Spain’s recent World Cup triumph in South Africa increased the demand in news, multimedia and traffic to the site. July and August were the two busiest months in history of the Torres’ website with 2.88 and 1.8 TB respectively. There were also 388,459 unique users who visited 4,180,000 pages.

In its sixth year of fernando9torres.com the traffic to the site from January and November in 2010 was 13.01 Terabytes in downloads, with visitors accessing the content of the web to the equivalent of 145 million hits. And with still a month to go before the end of the year, the numbers will read even more impressive by the end of December.
