The All-Star charity match at Anfield later this month has taken further exciting shape after captains Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher met to select the elite players they each want on their side for the game. Fernando Torres and Luis Suárez were selected by Steven Gerrard for his squad in a dream strike partnership.

“My strike partnership there is so exciting,” Gerrard said. “It will be interesting to see if we can get Suarez and Torres on the pitch at the same time. They are the two best strikers I’ve ever played with”.

Organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation, the Reds' official charity, the Sunday March 29 event will raise funds for the local community and benefit thousands of young people and adults around the city.

On the field, a stellar cast of professionals have been recruited for a special match that gives fans an opportunity to watch Gerrard run out alongside some of their favourite players before he bids farewell to the club at the end of the season.
