Vicente Del Bosque named Fernando Torres in the 23 man strong squad for this summer’s World Cup Finals in South Africa. The Spain boss cut down his list to 23 players ten days after giving his provisional list of 30 footballers on May 10. The Liverpool and Spain number ‘9’, who is currently in Vigo recovering from surgery on the meniscus in his right knee, passed a check-up with the Spain medical team before Del Bosque’s named his provisional list. The Liverpool striker has continued to work around the clock ahead of the World Cup which kicks-off in just under a month time.

During the official press conference the Spain boss talked about the players in his squad who are recovering from injury. “If they are in the list, it’s because the feedback from the doctors and the physical trainers has been postive. We hope that they will all be 100% fit by the start of the tournament.”

Spain will face Honduras, Chile and Switzerland in Group H at this summer’s World Cup finals. The 2008 European Champions’ are one of the top eight seeds in South Africa along with Brazil, England, Holland, holders Italy, Germany, Argentina and the hosts.

Vicente Del Bosque’s side’s opening group game will take place on 16 June against Switzerland in Durban. Spain next face Honduras in Pretoria on 21 June, before playing Chile in their final group game on 25 June. All of the 23 players named by Del Bosque will meet up at Spain's headquarters in Los Rozas on Monday morning.
