The campaign ‘Un juguete, una ilusión’ (One toy, one joy) organised by the Spanish State television and radio together with the ‘Crecer Jugando’ (Grow through Play) Foundation has proved a complete success. The latest campaign was Fernando Torres' fifth collaboration with the foundation. The most recent campaign raised 3,092,240 million euros which will go towards the purchase of 510,000 toys which will be distributed in 20 countries across Africa, Central and South America and in the Middle East: El Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, Guatemala, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Panama, Honduras, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Republic of Benin, Morocco, Ethiopia, Togo, Kenya, Iran, Jordan and Timor.

The Foundation ‘Crecer Jugando’ collaborates with 30 non-governmental agencies as it looks to promote 60 projects across the world. Similar to past years, the campaign personalises the presents for the children. For example 50,000 toys will be sent to Haiti and one of the 125 centres which will receive toys especially designed for children with cerebral palsy.

The 2009 Christmas campaign was the Spaniard’s fifth collaboration with the ‘Crecer Jugando’ Foundation. As part of the campaign Fernando Torres appeared in an advert which included a selection of children whose difficult lives have been enlightened by the possibility of being able to play with their first toy.

The children shared their experience and joy with the audience through a series of stories told by the children themselves. The viewers were then invited to take an active part in the campaign by Fernando Torres himself. The Spaniard reminded viewers that, although 3 million toys have been made available to children across the world, there is still plenty of work still left to do.
