A crowd of photographers and fans were waiting in the arrival lounge and headquarters hotel to get a glimpse of the Chelsea striker as Spain arrived in the Spanish capital for Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg. The noise levels at Madrid-Barajas International Airport suddenly rose as Fernando Torres came into view...

The 30 year old forward was surrounded by a sea of Atletico Madrid and Chelsea fans hoping to get a glimpse, photo or autograph of Fernando. The midweek clash between red-and-white and Blues was put to one side for a brief moment in time as the Spain and Chelsea number ‘9’ waved at the fans gathered inside the terminal.

Fernando Torres´ exploits for club and country have led to the striker becoming a house-hold name across the world; and the fans in hometown Madrid made the striker feel welcome, albeit until Tuesday night when the two teams step out onto the Vicente Calderón pitch well known by Fernando Torres.
