Liverpool face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 19:45 hours (GMT), with a chance to move within two points of third place. Rafa Benitez will be without the injured trio of Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and Glenn Johnson. Greek centre back Sotirios Kyrgiakos will also miss the top-four clash through suspension after seeing red in last weekend’s Merseyside derby. - Premier League Table -

The Reds, who are unbeaten in seven matches, have conceded just one goal in seven games and travel to London after a morale boosting win in the Merseyside derby. Dirk Kuyt grabbed the only goal of the game as ten-man Liverpool beat Everton to move into the top-four.

The Gunner’s title hopes have been severely dented with recent defeats to Manchester United and Chelsea. Arsenal’s last Premier League outing ended in a disappointing 2-0 loss away to the Blues. Two first-half strikes from Didier Drogba made sure the points stayed at Stamford Bridge.

Wednesday’s fixture will be the second meeting between the two teams at the Emirates this season. Back in October Arsenal and Liverpool met in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. Fran Merida put the home side in front, and although Emiliano Insua equalised for the Reds, Nicklas Bendtner grabbed the winner shortly after the break.

In the corresponding fixture at Anfield, Arsenal ran-out 2-1 winners. Kuyt opened the scoring, but an own goal from Johnson followed by a 58-minute strike from Arshavin secured the Gunners maximum points.

In-form Liverpool will go into the midweek match full of confidence as they look to strengthen their grip on fourth place. The Merseysiders will be aiming to bring back all three points to Anfield, against a side they have failed to beat away from home in the league since the 1999/2000 season.
