Seventh and eighth placed teams on the Serie A table -both with 18 points to their name- come face to face at the big San Siro on Sunday to play 13th Matchday of the league season. Udinese arrives to the Rossoneri stadium after the draw held by the two Milan local teams in ‘Derbi della Madoninna’. The Inzaghi’s squad will fight for return to winning ways after five fixtures away from victory. Four draws and one defeat are the recent league record and three points is a must for this game against a team with a poor away record: one win and a draw. The game will kick off at 15:00 hours (GMT). -Serie A Table-

This Sunday’s Serie A match between Milan and Udinese will be the 43rd meeting between the two sides at the San Siro. There have been 23 wins for the rossoneri, 13 draws and 6 wins for the bianconeri.

Football Data also reminds us that Milan have wrapped up the Scudetto on 2 occasions against Udinese at the San Siro over the years.

The first time was the 2nd of June 1959, on the penultimate round of the Serie A season. Milan stormed to a 7-0 win that day thanks to a hat-trick by Galli, a brace by Bean and a goal apiece from Danova and Fontana. Milan went 4 points clear of Fiorentina after the match. That 7-0 triumph was also Milan’s biggest ever win against Udinese.

The second time in which Milan secured the title after a match with Udinese at the San Siro was on the 17th of April 1994, on the third to last round of the Serie A season. The match ended 2-2 and all the goals came in the second-half. Boban and Simone were on the score-sheet for the rossoneri while Udinese’s equaliser to make it 1-1 came from the gone but never forgotten Stefano Borgonovo. Rossitto, the new coach of Lega Pro side Pordenone, scored the second equaliser.

On Sunday, Milan will also be trying to end the Andrea Stramaccioni taboo: the Udinese coach has an unbeaten record from his time at Inter against Milan. From 3 Milanese derbies from 2012 to 2013, Stramaccioni managed to oversee 2 wins and 1 draw.
