Cesar Ferrando’s team launched themselves into attack from the very beginning of the match, especially Torres who came close to scoring twice in the opening minutes. The Mallorca defence found themselves overwhelmed by the forward, and could only stop him by committing fouls. Mallorca also had two chances to score at the beginning of the first half, but were unlucky with their finishing. In the 27th minute, a powerful shot by Colsa from outside the area opened the scoreboard and from then on, Mallorca lost hope and the 1-0 score was a heavy chargue on his back. After half-time, in the 50th minute, Torres had a clear shot at goal following an excellent individual move, but after dribbling Moya, the angle was lost and the shot with the left skimmed the post. Another sprint just after ended with the forward forcing a penalty, which seconds later became Torres’ 16th goal this season. The rest of the game belonged entirely to the red and whites, and Salva took advantage of this to score twice. At the end, a comfortable win and a step forward for Atlético in their quest for Europe.
