Atlético get all three points from single-goal away win over Betis (0-1)

10-12-2017

Win and three points more for Atlético in Sunday trip to Seville. The Red-and-whites did the job defeating Real Betis in Benito Villamarín Stadium with a single goal by Saúl Ñíguez. It was a hard-fought win against Quique Setien side as locals tried hard to retain the points home but Atlético displayed a superb performance to grab another clean sheet in La Liga. Today the Red-and-whites completed a one-year away unbeaten run in the Spanish league tournament through 20 games as visitors.

Fernando Torres was dropped from the starting line-up after the Champions League midweek fixture at Stamford Bridge but he played the last 14 minutes of the game after replacing Gameiro up front.

Visitors broke the deadlock with a goal by Saúl Ñíguez. The Spanish midfielder slid in at the back post to meet a low cross from Sime Vrsaljko to score the only goal of the game in the 30th minute, netting for the second game in a row.

After the break Atletico held Betis on their own soil with an almost perfect defensive game. Goalkeeper Jan Oblak pulled off an impressive save from former Barca forward Tello in the home side’s best attempt of the second half.
