Atlético have to settle for point in goalless stalemate at Sevilla (0-0)

01-03-2015

Atlético de Madrid draw 0-0 against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán in a brilliantly played match by our defence. Only the goal was missing when the chances came in the second half from a good Fernando Torres’ performance. Sevilla FC had their chances in the first half but saw how Atlético de Madrid could have won in the second half.

In the first half, the player from Sevilla were the ones who worried Moyá the most, especially from out of the box, as Bacca did with two shots that our goalkeeper saved. But the clearest chance came in the 26th minute, when Iborra crashed his shot on the left post of Moyá’s goal.

The second had a different script, with an Atlético de Madrid living more in the rival field and Fernando Torres creating danger since he came onto the pitch. Griezmann had warned shortly before with a shot that tried to surprise Rico from up high. Torres entered on 61 minutes and made a shot that Griezmann could not connect by just a little. And the same Fernando shot on the 68th, but Rico stopped it.

Well into the final stretch, a stolen ball from Torres in front of Krychowiak could have had consequences to the fixture. Fernando went fast and crossed the ball without luck because it narrowly missed the left post of Rico’s. It was the last great opportunity of the match. An important point against Sevilla that strengthens the work of the team, brilliant in defence during the game and good in attack in the second half.
