Atlético de Madrid beat Espanyol with a goal from Griezmann and holds the second place in the League. The team deserved more goals after good chances by substitutes Fernando Torres and Thomas. Godín and Koke both crashed shots on the woodwork. -Liga BBVA Table-

Atlético de Madrid decided to fast-track the match. When fans were still arriving to their seats, Griezmann found the rival goal again. Just as had happened on Wednesday against Galatasaray, the French scored to extend their lead from the rival and mark territory.

After the half-time, the match was clearly red and white, with control, good game and scoring chances. Pau López avoided the second goal at the beginning after a shot from Óliver Torres. Then it was Godín who tried but his header found the left post of the blue and white goal. Fernando Torres, in the final stretch, almost scored, but his shot grazed the woodwork. And Koke, after a great play from Carrasco, found the post in the last stages of the game.
