Two goals from Griezmann put Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League semi-final round after an intense match and did justice after two matches. Model behaviour from the fans who pushed the team to victory. Simeone beat Luis Enrique in the best possible moment and if the Frenchman had not scored against Barça yet, today he did so twice. Atlético knocked-out the reigning Champions fairly. Fernando Torres was ineligible for the game -after a two-booking sent off in first leg- but he lived and celebrated the win with passion from the Vicente Calderón stands.

Atlético de Madrid had studied well the script for this round of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The team had to be patient to find the gap needed to hurt and then play its hand. With devoted fans that carried the team upwards before Rizzoli blew the opening whistle of the match. There were not many chances to score in the first half, but Atlético de Madrid was more accurate. A measured cross from Saúl with the outside of his left foot was placed by Griezmann next to the left top corner with a spectacular header.

The second half was fast-paced, different from the first. Saúl began the hostilities with a header that crashed on the crossbar and shortly after Griezmann warned Ter Stegen. Barça also tried but found the Slovenian wall, Oblak, with opportunities from Iniesta and Suárez. Finally the home side finished the match and qualifying round with a penalty kick converted by Griezmann in the 87th. Big celebration until the end from fans who believed, and were, together with the team, towards victory.
