Atlético finished third in LaLiga after the tie at the Benito Villamarín. During the second half Savic equalised Dani Ceballos's goal and for the fifth consecutive season the Red-and-whites will play the Champions League next season. The objective to secure LaLiga's podium depended on winning points at the Benito Villamarín and it was achieved with a tie thanks to a goal by Savic. The red and white team saw how Betis had two chances to score, one from a shot by Joaquín that hit the post on 10 minutes and another from Ceballos that also hit the woodwork in the 24’.

In the second half, the match started at a frantic pace, with attack in both areas and the first one that managed to score was Betis, with a hard shot from Ceballos which Oblak could not stop. But Atlético levelled soon after thanks to Savic finishing a free-kick delivered by Koke. In the final stretch, there were tries in both areas but Oblak saved a goal from a drive by Cejudo. The fixture ended with a draw, a result that allows our team to be in LaLiga's podium. It is the fifth season that Atlético will play in the Champions League.
