Important win for Atlético de Madrid at El Molinón. Three golden points in the fight for the Champions that came in the final stretch of the match thanks to three goals by Gameiro. It has also been Simeone's first victory at El Molinón; Atlético won their fifth away match this season and finished with the jinx of the stadium from Asturias this century, as we had only won a match in the 2008/09 season.

After a matched first half, the second one began vibrantly and very intensely. In the opening play, Gabi crossed to Torres who headed to Carrasco and he scored after a shot cleared by Cuéllar which the Belgian finished on the goal line. Only three minutes later, Sporting tied the match. Nevertheless, the changes in the second half gave the team consistency and a devastating scoring power. Saúl and Thomas were vital and Gameiro was not less, as he scored his first hat trick for Atlético.
