Atletico let two points slip at Ramon de Carranza

27-03-2006
Atletico let two points slip at Ramon de CarranzaAtletico of Madrid suffered a new setback in their visit at Ramon of Carranza. The goal by Kezman in the first half wasn’t enough to avoid the tie against Cadiz (1-1) that equalized the match from the penalty point.

The motivation of both teams, the Andalusianses threatened by the descent and the red-and-whites aiming Europe brought a match without an owner in which none of the two teams was able to set their law. Atletico had been soon handcuffed by the pressure of a Cadiz’s team that neither knew to translate their presence in the midfield into clear goal’s chance. None of the red-and-white midfielders were able to connect clearly with the forwards.

Fernando Torres was very active during all the game and shone in the first half more as assistant that as goal-scorer. At 10’, after a run into the area, he gave a gold-ball to Galletti that the Argentinean sent high, and at 31' finished a gallop by the right side with a center searching for Ibagaza, but 'El Caño' didn't guess right to connect the shot in front of the only opposition of Limia. Hardly two minutes later, Kezman took advantage of a splendid pass by the Argentinean midfielder to score the first goal. Alone against Cadiz's goalkeeper, the Serbian opened up to the right and he centered masterly to the bottom of the net.

The second half started with a cautious Atletico that place their trust in some individual action that would’ve sentenced the match. Petrov almost achieved it with a shot from outside the area that left lightly high. Little by little Cadiz was winning field to Pepe Murcia’s players, arriving pushing to Leo Franco’s area. In one of the local assaults, Galletti wanted to avoid grabbing the run of Sesma into the area, and the referee pointed out the penalty point in spite that the Cadiz’s player received the ball in an offside position. Lobos didn't forgive from the penalty point. Although Leo Franco guessed the trajectory of the shot he couldn’t do anything to avoid the tie at he scoreboard.

The goal served as an incentive to Atletico that was overturned in offense in searching for the victory’s goal. At 75', Fernando Torres finished off a dribbling into the area with a shot with the left foot which was turned aside. Soon after, the captain had in his boots the tie when after an incredible gallop, he played a one on one that was resolved with success by Cadiz's goalkeeper. Atletico didn't let up in their effort and pushed until the end of the match, but they didn't find the way to undo the tie.
