Atlético de Madrid won an important fixture against Espanyol to continue up in the fight for the Champions League spot objective. Griezmann scored the winner late on the second half after a hard-fought game. Fernando Torres played the first half of the contest.

An evenly-matched first half between Espanyol and Atlético de Madrid with alternate control and few chances to score. The clearest was for ours team with Carrasco's shot from outside the area that Diego López cleared fifteen minutes in. Diego Pablo Simeone’s team was good defending, with Giménez in the right side, and with the ball moving fast when it was in red and white possession.
