Atletico of Madrid was defeated by Recreativo of Huelva (1-0); an inopportune mistake that makes more difficult the fight for the European zone at the classification. The revelation team of the season beat easily the Madrilenian Team at the first minutes, after being ahead at the scoreboard, the white and blue control was decreasing and Atletico got it. The final scoreboard wasn’t fair with the red and white team that made enough merits to return at least with a point of his visit to New Colombino.

As at their last trip to the Andalusian lands –at the match against Sevilla- Atletico was overflow from the beginning of the match by his rival and, overall, for a fast goal. Not even ten minutes had passed when Recreativo of Huelva went forward scoring by Sinama Pongolle a Penalty made by Ze Castro. The match started uphill and was time to suffer more when the referee pointed out for the second time the penalty point after Seitaridis knocked down Uche inside the area. Fortunately for the red and white team Pongolle made a mistake sending the ball by the bottom line.

Atletico was trying to overcome the adversity, but the midfield wasn’t working as it was supposed to. The sanction leave of Luccin was remembered, and the forwards lines suffered the lack of players from midfield, while the rival team scared making dangerous fast breaks. Not many opportunities had the red and white team to get with danger to Lopez Vallejo’s area, hardly two actions by ‘Kun’ Agüero and Jurado worried the locals.

At the second half things changed. The entrance of Gabi instead of the injured Perea refreshed the ideas at midfield and the connection with the offensive line started to work. Agüero started by shooting a ball that Lopez Vallejo blocked. After that the turn was for Fernando Torres, culminating a run into the area with a cross right-footed shot that didn’t find the net. Atletico was getting closer with danger and was starting to deserve the tie that Agüero could’ve achieved after finishing a personal play in the area with a dangerous shot intercepted at the last moment by a defender.

Jurado also tried it with a shot from the front that, once again, Lopez Vallejo blocked. The goal seemed to be closer, but they needed the finish off at the final metres. Definitively Recrativo dug themselves inside their area to resist the red and white charges, each time more frequent, though they were be able to scare with two dangerous actions in which they could’ve sentenced. The last red and white chance, at the extra time, was for Fernando Torres. Number ‘9’ had the opportunity to tie it shooting a ball inside the area that crashed against the crossbar.

That would be the last occasion for the red and white team that finally saw how the three points went to Recreativo, enough for the team from Huelva to equalize to Atletico at the table with forty points. In spite of everything, the red and white team is placed at the sixth place of the classification above the team from Huelva and keeping the place at the European zone.
