The last but one Premier League stop. The season is reaching to the end and Chelsea welcomes Newcastle with no options to fight for the title. However, the ‘blues’ are forced to “give it all” to get the three points to defend their second place against Arsenal’s power, apart from having the moral imperative of say goodbye to their fans with a victory. As a consolation prize, to win the ‘magpies’ would practically assure the second place for the ‘blues’. The last match of this season in Stamford Bridge will take place next Sunday, the 15th of May; kick off at 13:30 GMT. - Premier League Table -

Fernando Torres will be within the starting eleven, as Ancelotti has confirmed, and will return to the pitch with the aim of increasing the 10 goals scored by him in Premier League. This will be the fourth time he will face the ‘magpies’, the second in this season. Last December he visited St. James Park with Liverpool to be hammered by 3-1. This time with the ‘blues’ he will try to improve his figures before a rival against who he hasn’t score regularly: the account of the Spaniard records a goal in the three matches played against Newcastle, however it was a great goal in the finest ‘dummy’ style. It was in his first season in Anfield, the 07/08 season, when he made a spectacular dribbling to the goalkeeper without the ball, only performed by stars as Pelé.

Win is a must for Chelsea to endure against Arsenal’s power. The good spell the Ancelotti’s squad was having since Torres and David Luiz were signed in the winter transfer window, was interrupted by the last day’s defeat against the leader. The ‘blues’ will try to recover in the two showdowns of the season against rivals already saved and which sail in calm waters. Both Newcastle and Everton have assured they will stay in the maximum category of the English football, although it is still to see if the ‘toffees’ can keep their options to reach European places in the last fixture, when Chelsea will visit Goodison Park

Given the circumstances, Alan Pardew’s Newcastle arrives to Stamford Bridge with not much at stake, once reached the initial objective of staying in the Premier League for this recently promoted team. After a year relegated, the magpies have completed their return to the maximum category without any problem. Their habitat has been the middle part of the table during the whole season, and they even fought for European places at the beginning of the season, but it was not all a bed of roses. The dismissal of Chris Hughton and the departing of Carroll to Liverpool have been obstacles the magpies have been able to overcome to keep flying in the maximum category.

Their objective will be to repeat their last result in Stamford Bridge: the epic Carling Cup victory that expelled Chelsea from the championship with a surprising 3.4. A goal of Ameobi almost at the end of the match meant the first elimination of the ‘blues’ in this season that is almost ending. In Premier League, last November’s fixture in St. James Park ended with a draw (1-1), while their last league visit to Stamford Bridge, in the 08/09 season, also ended with a draw (0-0).
