Fernando Torres was on favor to improve the security measures in a magazine granted to ‘Motor Fun’, a car magazine dedicated to the young people which is published with ‘Motor 16’. It is an interesting dialogue with Mar Cogollos, manager of the asociation ‘Aesleme’ focus to the prevent of accident that provokes spinal and brain injuries ,the Madrilenian forward got the most of the occasion to send a convincing message with the aim of preventing the increasing number of accidents in our roads.

- Who was your first football contact?

The living came form my brother, he played as a goalkeeper in a neighbourhood team. I had to shot him, I also like to play as a goalkeeper, but like I was shoting always I ended as a player. After that I joined a neighbourhood teams and...

- Your first Team...

It was could Parque 84. I was 5 years old and then the youngest one play championships the Feredation or the city council organized in the neighbourhood. I started like that.

- How do you get to Atleti?

Arose the possibility to do a test at the Atleti. I thought I wasn’t going to pass it, but I entered at the school and the truth is until you don’t play the League and you go to everywhere representing the Atletico you don’t realize what is it, you are so young...

- Could you explain the red and white felling?

Parents have to do with, the environment you are brought, the team, your house. In my family weren’t fans of football, at least they didn’t meet every weekend to watch the matches. My grandfather was the only one from a recognize team –he was from Atleti-, and he talked my about the team... Each time he talked my about that I liked more, and I started watching the matches. I think I became an Atleti supporter. What it represents the team to the society, I felt reflected: the neighbourhood of south of Madrid against the gigant of the city Real Madrid. Atleti is the team of the working-class, I felt more recognize on that team and I had the luck to get into that team.

- What does it means to you?

In the team they know they have to train you as a player and as a person and they have to show you some values and to work in a team. Nobody is going to win alone and there isn’t 11 or 22 there is the technical body, the people that works for theteam. All that is a team. It is very important having good teammates. Friends is something different and above all at this level that you live with people of different ages and different cultures.To a player a teammate has to be in the pitch like a brother.

- Which dream you lack to fulfil?

Are short terms dreams, thing should be done step by step, I am content with getting in Europe this year, that it is when you start having a name.

- How would you describe you?

I consider very normal. I am a very shy person, it seems I am more serious or reserved and with the people I don’t know I am introverted; but then is totally different. With my firends I can be myself because they lived with me since nobody knew me to become famous. They were before, during and after; when you are with your friends of all your life you aren’t a footballer you another friend.

- What about the successfull?

You have bad moments and good ones. We live thanks to the people. A great part you achieve is because the people like what you do and they give you the possibility of keep playing football, to renew your contract. The supporters are the one who builts and destroy.

- What about you studies?

I was studying business studies, but I stopped, I started the first year but I didn’t even finish. It was when I debuted with the Spanish National team. I was going to the university and I couldn’t walk, that was impossible. If I have time, I would like to do Psycology, at the UNED, a didtance university. I am not in a hurry.

- Do you like to travel?

In summer I try to travel and try to know all the World, I have been in Asia, In America, Australia... my favourite place to spend a weekend with my girlfriend, I would choose Formentera.

- A holidays place

Galicia, I am very calm overthere, I been there since I was a little boy, the environment is very familiar and people don’t interest about me that much. Is like a refuge to me.

- Do you like cars?, which model would you choose?

Yes, but I used it depending on the needs, I don’t like having a flashy car, I prefer a discreet one. I am not a person that love cars, I have teammates that are always looking car magazines.

- Do you consider yourself above the vial security?

Yes, of course. From a long time, people has enough information to convince yourself. The problem is until something happen to you or you get scared of something you don’t realize the importance of the security elements, but you don’t have to wait it happens something to you to use them. I didn’t have anything serious, but a small bump you realize is important.

- Do you consider important the security on the car?

The elements of security of a car are more important that buying a nice car; the nice car; a nice car in an accident won’t save your life. Each time you look for the security, but not enough yet. What a better thing that being secure in a car!

- The Aséleme campaign it’s called ‘you could go over the line’ What would you do to disminish the accidents? is the points driving licence a good idea?

Yes, I think so. People should be concious the roads aren’t circuits. Mi parents always say that the important thing is to arrive, even an hour later, but to arrive. When you go faster, you have a lot to loose and nothing to win. The most important is being concious. If the radar, the points driving license or the speed limits make disminishing the accidents, that’s great.

- Can the sport leade to the players into a better life? Have the sport people a healthy life?

My mom used to say: while you are playing football you don’t do anything worst”. Sport and alcohol are incompatible.

- The education in capital letters is important…

At school stop teaching a lot of things that are very important and you realize with time; not just the road education, even the respect and the education not only in the road, in the street. People put apart the behaviour to teach other things, that at the end it is the most important in life.
