F. Torres knocks down Celta with a doublet at Balaidos (1-3)Hardly four days after Torres scored a goal at the Cup match against Osasuna he was decisive again for Atletico in the victory against Celta (1-3), a triumph that added three important points in order to take Atletico to the ‘Champions zone’. Number ‘9’ made a good match at Balaidos scoring a doublet at the first twenty minutes and the assist of the third one, done by ‘Kun’ Agüero at the begin of the second half. The brilliant performance of the Madrilenian and his good connexion with the Argentinean was added to the great level that the team showed at the first 45 minutes, winning easily a Celta team that almost didn’t have the option to react against the red and white avalanche.

Atletico jumped into the Balaidos’ field with the aim to confirm the excellent season is making as visitor. Javier Aguirres’ players, very concentrate, demonstrated to have learnt the lesson and they controlled Celta from the first minutes making pressure at the midfield and on the forward line, with Torres and Agüero driving crazy the rival defence. Having the midfield controlled it was the turn for the forwards looking for a way to score and was the captain the first one to find it out: minute 10 was running, when suddenly Tamas knocked number ‘9’ down at the area and, after meeting with Pinto from the punishment point, he sent the rejected ball to the bottom of the net with a header.

The red and white team didn’t have enough with the minimum advantage. The control omened a bulky scoreboard and at minute 20’ the connection Agüero-Torres started working to increase the difference. ‘Kun’ sent a measured centre to the forward and this one, getting at the area by the right side, beat Pinto for the second time with a cross right footed, impossible for the goalkeeper. The rest of the first half went by without scares for the red and white team that, being secured at the field, knew how to play waiting a mistake of the rival defence that would’ve allowed them to wide even more the differences. Minutes went by with a comfortable Atletico against a Celta that didn’t achieve getting close with clarity to Cuellar’s area at the first half.

The break was useful for Celta to think which one was the way to cut distances, the way was to recuperate the ball. The blue sky team tried it in the second half, though it wasn’t their night: it was Torres’ night. Number ‘9’ appeared again and, after a long run at the right side, left alone ‘Kun’ Agüero against Pinto with a measured pass. The Argentinean didn’t forgive and culminated the fast break with an effective shot fitting it to the right post.

Three goals on favour at the scoreboard, Javier Aguirre decided to give a rest to the Madrilenian forward with a look to the next match on Wednesday at Pamplona, incorporating Mista instead of number ‘9’. The aim for the red and white team in that moment was limited to control the situation and to keep far away from ‘Pichu’s’ surroundings a Celta team beat by a bulky scoreboard. Even so the sky blue team had the opportunity to give a spark of emotion to the match thanks to a goal by Nene at 69’. From that moment until the end of the match Celta started to cut distance guided by their heart instead of their mind, while Atletico left the chronometer running to the end of the match.

The red and white team increase this way their triumphs collection with a victory at Balaidos, three important points that allow the red and white team to stay at the European zone of the table and at the ‘Champions zone’ within range.
