04-12-2006
F. Torres play his 150th match at first division against Real BetisFernando Torres keeps achieving records. The forward played his 150th match at the first division last Saturday at Ruiz de Lopera Staduim against Betis, actually the same rival that saw him play his hundredth match on May 18th of 2005. During five seasons, and from his debut at the maximum category, on September 1st of 2002 against F.C. Barcelona, the forward from Atletico has scored 65 goals.

The numbers place him very close to Raul Gonzalez. Torres achieves the 150 matches at first division being 22 years old, while the forward from Real Madrid made it being 21 years old. Regarding to the scoring numbers of the red and white striker, he overpass with one goal the 64 goals that Raul scored in the same amount of matches. Atletico’s captain has played an essential part in the goal scoring facet of his team, more than the player from Real Madrid at his team, that’s because Torres has scored a third part of the goals of the team (33%), while Raul scored a 22% of Real Madrid.

The success facing the goal has been useful for him to be awarded in two occasions with the honour of being the maximum national top-scorer of the championship, above the white forward. It was at the seasons 03-04 and 04-05 with 19 and 16 goals respectively. Likewise, Fernando Torres figures at the eleventh place of the red and white goal scoring list, six away from Collar and farther from the 150 of Escudero, but with a lot of time ahead to break every goal scoring recorded at the Manzanares club.
