Atletico of Madrid player Fernando Torres appeared before the mass media after the private training done at Vicente Calderon and said “all of us know what we need to be where we want, tomorrow we have the first opportunity. We have to be at the level of the circumstances. We are convinced that we are going to be in Europe next season. The matches played at home will be essentials, and away we have to follow the same line of the first round. We have failed sometimes and now we have another opportunity to do things well.

“The coach makes his work. All of us have to be motivated just for to be in a club like Atletico of Madrid. Now we are sixth and I know we would have signed years ago to be here at this time. We should demonstrate we can be at the level of this club”, the international forward said.

Regarding to the words of his teammate Maniche last week, Torres had clear that ‘Maniche is a winner and he wants to win more things. Atletico of Madrid has always been a great Club. Last years the team didn’t achieve what we want; they have always been teams above us. I interpreted his words as a person that wants to win more things and to be higher than where we are right now. I hope when he jumps to the field and nobody reproaches him anything because what all he wants is just to keep growing with Atletico.

“You should believe in a project. If we do that it is a step done because things don’t start from zero. Each year come new players and starts a new project. What we have to do is to enter at Europe, trust in a Project and make a solid team”, he pointed out.

One more time, Fernando Torres was specific about his future at Atletico of Madrid and said “It is sad it could happen the same thing as always. About my future it is already talked and close, this is my house and I will be here until they want. We always start to talk about things that aren’t football and that’s no good. We have to be professional and isolated about all that”.

“In this team there are great players, great professionals. All of us have to assume responsibility because that’s how the great team is built. We want to return Atletico of Madrid to its deserved place. In this team each player is important and each player has his responsibility. As footballer we have to be proud to be at the third club of Spain.

About the aim of the team, the red and white captain said that “is the year we have it closer because we have been many weeks at European places and we are still there, though we have had some looses. In our mind we have to reach a little bit higher and if that can’t be possible, at least we have to reach UEFA”.

“The evolution of a player is analyzed at the end of his career. Each player develops in a different way. The Club will grow and so will I. If we ended in Europe will be a good season for me and for the team. What is good for the team is good for all of us. With all the difficulties we have had, the injuries, to be up there is very hard and people don’t see it. At the end of the season I wish we could talk that Atletico of Madrid is in Europe”, he ended.
