With just two days to go before finding out the name of the city that will organize the 2012 Olympic Games, Fernando Torres, Ambassor for the Madrid candidature, is convinced that Madrid should be chosen: “Madrid has made a great effort to get this far, and we won’t fail at the last post. There’s no doubt that we deserve the chance to organize the Olympic Games, and I hope that the members of the International Olympic Committee will confirm this on Wednesday”.

The Fuenlabrada-born player emphasized the support of the people of Madrid as one of the city’s main advantages over its rivals: “The ‘madrileños’ have already shown their eagerness to organize the Games, as we have seen from the popular support for the candidature. I think that this is the best card in our favour, although a very high-quality project in terms of sporting facilities, infrastructure, transport, security and accommodation, is also very important. Madrid’s candidature is without doubt the most complete, and we have a great chance of reaching our goal: to organize in Madrid the 2012 Olympic Games".
