F. Torres: “We were afraid for the worst, but it was a scared”
Fernando Torres atended to the Press conference to value the injury that made him leave the pitch in the match against Villarreal. The forward admitted that he was afraid “for the worst when I saw my knee. Luckly it wasn’t anything. The truth is it that in the changing room we were afraid for the worst, because my knee was very swallen. I was a little scare, but luckly it was anything it was a scare”. The striker recognized that he was ver worried. “I came in the changing room in the break, I hardly could walk and I thought that getting cooler was going to get worst, but luckly the work of the physiotherapist and doctors, today the knee was not swallen, very clean to do the test”. Fernando Torres calm down after listen the diagnosis of the doctors. “The doctor Guillen has told us that it just seems a blow. We have to see how envolves. It also could be a haemorrhage or something that get difficult to have movility. In principle it’s just that. Now we have to work to be as soon as we can”. The previous injuries in the knee of my teammates like Maxi Rodríguez and Martin Petrov it came into my mind after getting out of the pitch. “When something happen you always think the worst, after seeing how are treating us the injuries and even more the knee injury. I though about Maxi and Martin Petrov... and you thing the worst, but likely it seems that just a scared, I hope will be the last injury of the season, he had enough”.
Even so, Torres traed if he could continued in the picth at the break of the match: “I thought I couldn’t follow, but quickly with ice, I could walk and I could tried to play, but at the second half at the first run I couln’t anymore” “It was hurting me a lot, so it was better to entered a teammate, because the match was 2-1 and we have to mantein the result. Luckly, entered Jurado and he made agreat match”. The football player, that waits to come back to the trainings this week, hope to be ready the next Sunday against Levante at the Ciudad de Valencia Stadium: “We have to see how get envolve, but I hope i will get ready. I think I won’t have any problem”.
Atletico found with the victory and the goal against Villarreal. The forward valued his performance and the team’s performance. “We feel like after three weeks without winning and without scoring. And also we know that in our pitch it’s getting harder to win matches. And, when Villarreal scores, it seems that everything was getting harder and it was going to be like always. But we could see that the team feel like to demonstrate that we don’t have to pass another year without titles neither seein the mistakes from next year. It play with feeling, we could get the match before the break. That goal hurt them a lot”.
For him, was a great Atletico match. “As the first half, that went well, like the second half, we play with a high level, that everybody was waiting and until now we haven’t done it. Probably at the match against Bilbao we done it and in some moments. Against Villarreal we made a complete match, it wasn’t only a good match, but the hole ninety minute it was a good balance, taking out the goal play of them, that it is probably what it has getting hard to us, to defend the strategy”.
Atletico returned to the 4-4-2, after making a 4-1-4-1 in the last matches. Torres valued like that the change of the system. “Depending of the systems, some players benefit more than others. When we are with three at the midle of the pitch you could see a serious team, that hardly recieve any occasion and always had the control of the match, but it need occasions. And with two forwards that occasion comes, althoug its lose some control of the game. Villarreal is a team that let you play and we know to get the most of it. Like ‘Kun’ as I knew to get the most of the spaces. We had clear goal occasions with two forwards, but that doesn’t mean anything. There are a lot of matches. Maybe another team that uses another system dominate us to have superiority at the middle. But the match was very good approached by the coach”.
