Chelsea will begin the defence of their FA Cup crown away at Southampton in one of four all-Premier League ties to emerge from the third round which was drawn on Sunday afternoon. The game will take place at St Mary’s Stadium in early January -5/6-, as Chelsea set out to win the trophy they claimed at Wembley at the expense of Liverpool last May.

Blues are yet to meet Nigel Adkins's side in the Barclays Premier League this season, with our game scheduled for mid-December postponed due to our involvement in the Club World Cup. Our last meeting came in April 2005 when we were 3-1 winners at St Mary's.

Chelsea met Southampton in the FA Cup third round in both 1977 and 1981, losing both times, while they also knocked us out in 1923 and 1924.
