Fernando Torres, at the inauguration of the Atleti MuseumAtletico of Madrid Museum it is a reality today. Fernando Torres, as captain and living history of the red and white team, was at the inauguration with the board and his team-mates of the first team. Besides the great red and white family, more other people from politics, sports and culture were at the Stadium Vicente Calderon to celebrate the birth of the museum that will lodge a good part of the history of the already centenary Club Atletico of Madrid.

The act was chaired by Enrique Cerezo, Atletico of Madrid President, accompanied by Miguel Angel Gil Marin, vice-president and Pablo Ornaque, advisory of cultural museums and creator of the project. The sport world was represented by Juan Antonio Samaranch, President of honour of the COI, Angel Mª Villar, President of the Spanish Football Federation, Jose Luis Astiazaran Iriondo, President of the professional League of Football, Ramon Calderon, Real Madrid President and Angel Torres Sanchez, Getafe’s C.F. President. Regarding to the local authorities were present: Esperanza Aguirre, President of Madrid community, Manuel Cobo, Vice-Mayor of Madrid-council and Rafael Simancas, General secretary from Madrid Socialist Party.

Throughout the 450 square metres that the Museum occupies, the visitants could do an historic tour around the Spanish football and red and white football. They’ll be game references, in particular posters, tickets of matches, historic documents... The visit starts with two great surprises linked Madrid 1900 with Atletico on a great symbolic value. Eighty per cent of Atletico trophies will be exhibited at the glass cabinet. The nine Leagues, nine Cups, Intercontinental, Recopa, Villa of Madrid trophies, Carranza and Teresa Herrera.

There are tactile screens in which you can play ‘Trivial’ about Atletico history. You could hear the sounds of the Calderon Stadium steps, the Club anthem, narrations of historic matches of the Club. That way, people could participate directly in the museum.

The Club has prepared also a video of 10 or 12 minutes in which explains what Atletico means and where we could see images of the great moments of the red and white team. Images that could be seen in a room composed of 50 stalls with high technology.
