Three years and three months after coming back to Madrid Fernando Torres has announced he will depart from Atlético at the end of the season, but also that he will keep playing football at top level. The Red-and-whites number nine -who came back to boyhood club after a successful period on the Premier League and a short period playing for AC Milan- shared his thoughts about the upcoming future in an LG event at Madrid.

“I'd like to take the opportunity to say that this season will be my last at the club” Fernando told the reporters.

“Given the reality, the circumstances, maybe it is for the best. I felt obliged to share it with the fans. They have gave me such a lot of love and support and I needed to tell them it”.

“I always thought that I would end my career here –at Atlético- but things do not go always the way you want and I feel with the aim and strength to keep playing football. I don’t know how much time, but I feel really good and I’ll look for that in another place”.
