The Champions League debut in the Wanda Metropolitano didn’t go as planned. Griezmann scored the first goal of a hard-fought contest, but Morata equalised after the break and Batshuayi scored the winning goal in the last seconds of the game

Fernando Torres boosted Atletico’s attacking line after replacing Carrasco on 69’. The striker hit the 100 European games milestone and tried hard to add a goal to his 33-strike sheet in UEFA competitions. Courtois blocked the two shots made by Madrilenian against his former team Chelsea F.C.

Griezmann scored the first ever LaLiga goal in the Wanda Metropolitano and did it again in the Champions League. Forty minutes had passed when Courtois, an old friend of ours, got the ball from the back of the net, after the Frenchman scored from the penalty spot. Before the goal, both teams were disputing possession and creating dangerous plays. Chelsea had three great chances, after Kanté sent a shot to the post and Oblak saved Morata and Hazard’s shots.

On the other hand, Griezmann almost scored before the penalty and Correa nearly doubled the lead, right before the referee blew the whistle for halftime. In the second half, Atlético started off strongly with a Saúl header, but Chelsea gave it their all to tie the match. Morata tied the match with his head, after a cross from Hazard. Even though our players gave it their all -specially Fernando Torres boosting the game with his pace up front- and tried to score the second, Chelsea was the team that came out victorious after Batshuayi scored the winning goal in the last play of the match.
