Liverpool bounced back from their defeat against Espanyol with their second win of the pre-season campaign in Oslo. The Reds defeated FC Lyn with goals from Voronin and Ngog either side of half-time. Fernando Torres entered the fray alongside club captain Steve Gerrard with half an hour of the friendly clash still to go. Both players received a very warm welcome from a packed Bislett Stadium in the Norwegian capital.

The two substitutes soon teamed-up to drive the home defenders crazy with a series of slick passing moves. The striker almost grabbed a third for the Merseysiders, but his shot from a Degen cross failed to find the back of the net.

Rafa Benitez’ side had to wait until the stroke of half-time to take the lead against FC Lyn. The Norwegian outfit had weathered the early storm well even testing Cavalieri at the other end with a shot from Davy Angan. Erling Knudtzon hit the post for Lyn as the home team threatened to draw first blood.

Liverpool however took the lead on 44 minutes after some good work from Babel. The Dutch winger’s cross was met by Voronin who directed his header past Lacey.

Dossena set up Ngog for Liverpool’s second on 52 minutes as the Reds took firm control of the friendly contest.

To the delight of the crowd Torres played the final 30 minutes of the Wednesday’s match coming on a second-half substitute.

All in all a good run-out for the Reds ahead of their final pre-season outing at home to Atletico Madrid on Saturday 8.
