The lottery of the penalties ended with Atlético de Madrid third final of the continental showpiece. Against PSV they passed to the quarter-finals from the penalty spot, but destiny wanted that this final was decided on penalties and Juanfran, who scored the decisive goal against the Dutch, crashed the fourth one on the post.
