Liverpool will be looking to make it six wins in their last six games at Anfield when they entertain Blackburn Rovers on Sunday at 15:00 hours (GMT). After coming on as a second-half substitute in last weekend’s match away to Manchester City, Fernando Torres could see a return to action in front of the Anfield faithful in Sunday’s game. The Spaniard is still the club’s top scorer this season with 12 goals in the league. Torres is followed by fellow attacker Kuyt with 9 Premier League goals.

Blackburn have enjoyed a recent mini-revival winning four of their last six matches to climb up to 12th, and away from the drop zone. Sam Allardyce’s side have 34 points and find themselves 11 points behind Liverpool and 11 points above Bolton who are in 18th place and in relegation.

Fernando missed the corresponding fixture at Ewood Park through injury as both sides fought out a 0-0 draw. The Red number ‘9’ has however faced Blackburn Rovers twice on Merseyside scoring three goals.

Last season Torres hit ‘Liverpool’s Goal of the Season’ as he grabbed a double against Rovers. The Spaniard controlled a long ball out of defence with his chest before cracking an unstoppable volley from an acute angle over the Rovers keeper. The wonder goal was also selected by FIFA as one of the top ten of the year during the FIFA World Player Gala held in December, 2009.

The ‘Kid’ had opened his goal account against Blackburn in his debut season on Merseyside as Liverpool beat the Lancashire club 3-1.

Since the Premier League started in 1992 the Merseysiders have lost just once in 15 meetings, Blackburn midfielder Mike Newell scoring the only goal of the game back in 1993.

Following this weekend’s Premier League match Fernando Torres will travel to Madrid to meet up with his Spain team-mates on Monday. The European champions will face France on Wednesday in an international friendly in Paris.
