Sagan Tosu crash to defeat in their J-League opening day vs Nagoya Grampus (0-4)

23-02-2019

The first J-League fixture for Sagan Tosu in 2019 season ended in a 0-4 defeat. It was an unexpected result as the local side displayed a solid performance from the start to the minute 63’, but failed to make the most from the opportunities created. Captain Fernando Torres was on Lluis Carreras line-up and created several goal chances on the first half -both denied by Langerak saves- as well as a right-footed drive to the woodwork after the break.

But it was Brazilian attacker Jo who made first blood after a counterattack finished with a clinical shot to past Okubo (63’). He also scored the second for visitors from inside the box, with a strong header. Soma (79’) made it three and substitute Izumi extended the gap to 0-4.

A trip to Kobe is the next J-League fixture scheduled -March the 2nd, 07:00 CET- a chance to bounce back and fight for the first win of the season against talented side Vissel Kobe.
