Sagan Tosu gain first three points of the season in the eventful game vs Jubilo Iwata (1-0)

17-03-2019

All three points were grabbed at home by Sagan Tosu on Sunday evening as Fernando Torres’ side completed the first win of the season. Issac Cuenca’s last-gap goal led the local side to victory despite an eventful course of the game, as skipper Torres was forced to leave the pitch after feeling some pain in the right leg (51’) and Yoshiki Takahashi was sent-off (62’). But finally Sagatino’s got the most to end a week with back-to-back wins in J-League Cup and J-league.

The sunny evening at Tosu brought good vibrations to the Ekimae Real State Stadium and the local side claimed the lead of the game with posessions and several attempts to goal, included a powerful right-footed shoot by Torres from outside the box following a skilled action to find a sight to goal.

It all seems to go in the right way, but after the break things turned to black: Fernando Torres’ injury blow was followed by the second booking to Yoshiki Takahashi. The solid defence displayed by Sagan Tosu kept Okubo’s goal safe from several attempts by Jubilo Iwata, and the momentum was still to come. Substitute Isaac Cuenca came onto the pitch on 81’ and ten minutes after he scored the winner with a header inside the box from a cross by Harawaka.
