Fernando Torres is cup-tied for Chelsea’s fourth round replay at home to Everton on Saturday, kick-off at 12:30 hours (local time). The striker played for his former club against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round, making him eligible for the Blues’ cup outing this weekend.

Everton will be grateful that the Spaniard will not be lining up against them at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea number '9' has scored three times against the Merseysiders whilst playing for Liverpool. His first, which proved to be the only goal of the game, came in his first Merseyside derby at Anfield, before the Spaniard later fired two against the Toffees at Goodison Park.

The forward made his 100th Premier League appearance against the Toffees on January 16 this year. Torres played the full 90 minutes of the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Chelsea started their FA Cup defence with a 7-0 thrashing of Championship side Ipswich. Salomon Kalou put the Londoners ahead just past the half hour mark before Daniel Sturridge doubled the Blues’ lead just seconds later. Carlos Edwards put through his own on net on 41 minutes to make it 3-0 at half-time. Anelka hit a fourth, Sturridge curled home the game’s fifth, with Lampard grabbing the final two goals of the afternoon.

Everton secured a tie against Chelsea with a 5-1 win away to Scunthorpe in the previous round. The original tie between the two Premier League sides at Goodison Park ended in a 1-1 draw. Louis Saha gave Everton a 62nd minute lead before Kalou equalised with a quarter of an hour remaining.

The Merseysiders, who have won the FA Cup on 5 occasions, were beaten finalists in 2009, losing to Chelsea. The current holders have an excellent recent record in the tournament, winning three FA Cups in the last four years. The Blues’ last defeat in the cup was back in 2008 when they lost to Barnsley at the quarter-final stages.

On Saturday Chelsea will be looking to come one step closer to becoming the first club to win three successive FA Cup titles since Blackburn Rovers achieved the feat during the 1880s.

The winner of the fourth round replay have been handed a home tie against Reading in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
