Superb assist by Torres in Kings Cup heavy win over Lleida (3-0)

09-01-2018

Atletico Madrid completed a 7-0 aggregate triumph over Lleida to reach the last eight of the Copa del Rey with a 3-0 victory at Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday (AEDT). The LaLiga heavyweight had all but completed its task with a 4-0 win in the first leg in Catalonia. -Kings Cup-

Carrasco opened the scoring in the second half after an assist by Diego Costa, and Gameiro and Vitolo added on toward the end. Vitolo's maiden goal came after a perfect long pass by Fernando Torres.

But it still named a strong side to face the third-tier outfit, which gave a decent account of itself against a team featuring Diego Costa and Fernando Torres.

It was Costa who set up the opening goal. Lleida fell victim to a counter-attack and Costa laid on the assist for Yannick Carrasco to break the deadlock in the 57th minute.

Kevin Gameiro fired home Atletico’s second 17 minutes later after good work by Angel Correa, before new signing Vitolo netted his first goal for the club after racing onto Fernando Torres’s through ball.
