Torres' brace boost Atletico to UEL last-eight tie (1-5)

Brilliant display in the RZD Arena. Fernando Torres scored twice as Atletico Madrid romped to a 5-1 Europa League thrashing of Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia to complete a resounding victory. Atlético beat Lokomotiv 1-8 on aggregate to qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals. Ángel Correa, Saúl Ñíguez, Fernando Torres (2) and Antoine Griezmann gave Atlético a brilliant win in Moscow. 


Spanish side knew they would have to give it their all in Moscow and that was what they showed on the pitch. From the start, the players played with maximum intensity.

Ángel Correa scored the first of the afternoon in the 16th minute, but Lokomotiv equalized in the 20th minute. The hosts were playing good football and wanted to show their fans what they were made of.

However in the start of the second half, atletico picked up the speed the again and Saúl scored in the 47th minute. Fernando Torres converted a penalty in the 65th minute and just five minutes later, got his brace from close range. Antoine Griezmann, who came on in the 61st minute, scored the fifth with a brilliant chip goal.
