Torres: “It is a good time for me and Chelsea”

20-03-2012

Fernando Torres was the talk of Stamford Bridge following his part in all five goals against Leicester City. The striker scored two, played the final pass for goals by Salomon Kalou and Raul Meireles and even won the corner that led to Gary Cahill heading his first for Chelsea and setting the team on the way to a 5-2 win.

'I needed those goals and I have been working so hard to get those goals,' said Torres.

'In the last month the team has been much better than before, we're more committed and I think we have shown in the last couple of games which way our season is going.
'I'm feeling much better. I was playing good but didn't score the goals but I could find the back of the net in this game so it was a good day for me.

'The most important thing is we are creating more chances than before, and when we create more chances we are going to score goals and we haven't conceded too many. We were maybe too relaxed at the end of the game so we conceded two goals but we are much better defensively, and if you don't concede goals you can win games.

'The job of a striker is to score goals and if you don't do it the people think that you are playing bad, but the main thing is the support of the people and they were always with me, as were my team-mates and the staff. I feel the confidence of the manager now and it is a good time for me and Chelsea, and we are in the last two months of the season when the more important games are coming.'
