Torres recognized in the media for the candidacy to ‘Ballon d’Or’Press took to its pages Fernando Torres’ inclusion in the list of the 50 football players selected by ‘France Football’ to fight for the ‘Ballon d’Or’ 2006. The newspaper stood out the wide representation of the Spaniards football players since, next to Torres, Puyol, Cesc and Villa, also are going to fight for the award on November 27th at Paris.

Under the title “The ‘Ballon d’Or’ looks for its owner”, Marca stands out that “Torres’ performance at Germany’s World Cup has let him be in the list”, while Mundo Atletico newspaper took the news to the front page to comment it in inner pages “It has been enough for Fernando Torres his presence at a single international date to be at the list of the best football players of the world. It is his first step to a trophy that has never a red and white player raised”. MAT remembers that the Atletico’s captain is not going just for the ‘Ballon d’Or’, also figures among the 55 players selected by the International Federation of Professional Football Players to win the FIFPro World XI.br>
In other place, the journal AS stands out that: “Four Spanish football players figure in the relation of the fifty candidates for the ‘Ballon d’Or’. Villa, Fernando Torres, Puyol and Cesc Fabregas take over Xavi, Raul and Luis Garcia, who were the three players that represented Spain in the 2005 edition”.
