Liverpool face their penultimate Champions League group clash when Olympique Marseille visit Anfield on Wednesday, kick-off at 19:45 hours (GMT). A fully recovered Fernando Torres returns to Europe’s top club competition as Liverpool look to seal their place in the knock-out stages with a win over the French outfit. The Merseysiders are tied at the summit of Group D with Atletico Madrid on eight points, five points clear of both Marseille and PSV Eindhoven.

Marseille arrive for the game with hopes of a top two finish after collecting their first points in Group D with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on Matcday 4.

Domestically, Eric Geret’s team are doing well in the French League and curently lie third with 27 points. On Sunday night Marseille grabbed a point with a goal in the final minute at home to LOSC Lille Metropole. Olympique were losing 2-0 at the break, but strikes from Samassa and ex-Liverpool winger Bolo Zenden gave OM a share of the spoils with the game ending 2-2.

The French outfit lost to Liverpool on Matchday 1 at the Velodrome 2-1, but they will be buoyed by their last visit to Anfield in October 2007. Olympique Marseille and Liverpool met on Matchday 2 of last season’s Champions League, with OM inflicting upon the Reds their first defeat in European competition by a French side at home.

The other group fixture see PSV Eindhoven travel to Spain to take on joint-league leaders Atletico Madrid in a game that will be played behind closed doors.
