Torres scores his first Liga BBVA goal as Atletico beat Getafe at The Calderon (2-0)

21-03-2015

New win for our team at the Vicente Calderón. The red and whites returned to the path of victory against Getafe at home after the great European night from last Tuesday. Torres scored his first league strike in the new Atletico era trough a Superb header, eight years after the last -in May 2007- in a double against Nastic de Tarragona. -Liga BBVA Table-

Simeone’s players took the field at a frantic pace in search of an early goal that eased the match. Fruit of the initial drive, an impeccable header by Fernando Torres to a centre from Koke would open the scoreboard three minutes after the game started. Moments before half-time, Tiago headed a ball to the far post to score the second goal of the fixture.

In the second half, the pace of the game slowed down. Atlético controlled the ball, making it circulate from one side to another with patience. Nevertheless, and despite the domain, Getafe had a clear scoring chance after a great shot from Escudero from the top of the box to which Oblak responded with a feline stretched to maintain the advantage on the scoreboard.
